Some people believe that Christmas has now become a commercial holiday in which people are encourage to spend more and more money each year. AS a result there is less emphasis on the religious and family traditions which reflect the true spirits of Christmas.
Do you agree or disagree?
Christmas day is believed to be the birth of Jesus Christ. Since Christianity has started in various places in the world, families who believed in this attended masses. It is believed that, Christmas has now been commercialized whereas the families spend as much money as they can as years pass by. With this, instead of gathering at home to celebrate Christmas, the families are found having their vacation in some other places. Moreover, families who attend religious practices pertaining to the celebration of the birth of Christ have now become fewer.
First and foremost, prior to the start of Christmas, families have already planned for a trip abroad or across the countries. Like for example, families would choose to spend their Christmas in Hong Kong to visit Disney Land, or others would choose some place in Europe. It is clear, with the said example, that families spend more time for vacation than staying at home to celebrate the real essence of Christmas.
Secondly, some people are more busy attending different parties rather than attending the mass dedicated for Christ. For instance, they attend reunions or they do bar hopping. This implies that people now have a lesser time for Christmas rites and family gatherings for celebrating Christ’s birth.
After analyzing the facts, it can be concluded that Christmas in these days has been commercialized than being religious. Hence, the true essence of Christmas should be brought back to this time – that is, having the traditions and celebrating the birth of Christ with our religious practices.
